The first fall of the pandemic brought a lot of uncertainty for all of us. For me, living alone, dealing with illness and unable to travel, I wondered how I would get through the winter. As the days shortened in September, the sound of the crickets got louder and louder in my garden where I sat every day. One day I found myself singing this tune along with the crickets, feeling their urgency to live while there was still time, and steeling myself for the coming cold weather and change.
